Alken-Maes is the culmination of the parallel growth
of five famous Belgian Breweries. The Alken brewery, founded in 1881 and the first Belgian brewery to brew Pils. The MAes brewery, with a history dating back to the 19th century and today a leading Pils brand in the Belgian market, using Czech hops and malt. The breweries of Kobbegem and Schepdaal, dating back to 1686 and two of last breweries in the world to
ferment their beers in oak barrels for up to three years. The brewery of Jumet, which brews amongst others an abbey beer developed by Norbertiner monks in 1184. Alken-Maes is therefore the owner of an unique portfolio of traditional Belgian beers which include pils and speciality beers.
